I bring good news to all!

My my my, another year has come and gone. Presents unwrapped, resolutions penned. As I welcome the new year, I bring happy news to my dear friends. My new show time has now been set in stone: Friday afternoons, 2:00-3:00pm (on KUCI 88.9FM in Irvine). My first show will be on Friday, the 13th of January. Oh, I hope nothing goes wrong that day…Fingers crossed! Knock on wood!

I apologize for not updating my website after so many months. After my last post, finals and exams swamped me, consuming all the extra time I had left after sleeping, sleeping, studying, and sleeping. (Just kidding. I wouldn’t neglect you like that. Or would I?) I, then, spent most of my winter break in Taiwan with my best friend, exploring all of Taipei and parts of Taichung. Had I the time, I would tell you all about my trip…but it’s 1:00am in the morning and I doubt I would be able to relate to you the joys and excitement of my trip. So, I’ll leave that story for another time. Now, I’m back at home, spending what’s left of winter break with my family. Four days left and it’s off to school I go. Don’t feel bad though. I spend most if not all my weekends at home.

I hope you’ll join with me on Friday afternoons from 2:00-3:00pm, starting from January 13th.

Thank you and enjoy your day!

~ Sharon

A Little Note for you…

Hello visitors!

I know, I know…where the heck am I? Why am I not updating this site like I promised to? Wellllll, I’ve actually been pretty busy with my new blog. While this website, I guess, would be considered my “main” channel, I’m keeping myself busy with my other blog since I’m not hosting my show this quarter. On this website, it’s not really me talking to you guys. Instead, I’m just finding articles all over the place (and by that, I mean mostly from allkpop or dramabeans…haha) and posting them here. (Of course, I’m citing them as well!)

So this new blog is ALLLLL me! Basically, I’m writing on things I want to write about. Sometimes I’ll be reviewing a new (or fairly recent) album, music video, etc and sometimes I’ll be talking about my experience at a certain event. This last weekend, I was invited by The Jubilee Project to the premiere of “Dear Daniel” in LA. And I wrote about my experience here. So if you haven’t already, check it out! Though my writing skills are somewhat lacking, I still went ahead and wrote something for you guys! 🙂 So if you miss me (even a teensy bit), feel free to send me a message or leave a comment on my new blog. I check that one more these days. Occasionally, I’ll come and keep you updated here. But I’ve been so caught up these days with the other one… 🙂

OH, and also, the KUCI Fund Drive is going on right now. Please call in to support KUCI and pledge any amount! There’s a lot of wonderful gifts – t-shirts, CDs, gift certificates, stickers, and so much more! The fund drive will last until November 8th, 2011! Be sure to call in now!!! 🙂

Have a great day!

Thank you,

Sharon Ho

ISA: LA 2011 ROCKED. Amazing. Spectacular. Exhilarating.

Into its fourth year and still growing strong, ISA has brought to us yet again another night of amazing, spectacular talent. For those who missed out, I’m fairly certain that you’ll be able to catch a few clips floating around YouTube. But you had to be there to feel the dedication, the passion, the time, and the  energy put into this year’s ISA: LA. It was truly an exhilarating experience for the ISA family to share together.

Doors opened a little past 1 in the afternoon, right when the sun was at its brightest. But a few fans told me that the line started as early as 8 in the morning! That’s some dedicated fans! The ridiculously long line of eager fans, friends, and family stretched to what seemed to be miles and miles long. Thankfully, it was not. The fact that there was no shade did not help either. Next year, they should think about renting tarps or canopies – a lot of them. Since we couldn’t bring any food or beverages into the park, everyone had to throw out the water bottles they brought. (And they had to buy expensive food inside…) I tried chugging my water down, but luckily, the guard who checked me in let me bring my water bottle in. Thank you, kind security guard. Entering the concert grounds, I looked around conflicted. I wanted to go up near the stage; I wanted to check out what kind of food they were selling; I wanted to see who was at the meet-and-greet area; I wanted to buy albums, posters, and Awkward Animals. Yes, Awkward Animals. You should check them out! Continue reading

What NOT to expect on my show this upcoming fall…

So, this morning, I found out that I will not be hosting my show this fall, which totally ruined my whole day. Not even an hour of yoga or thirty minutes in the sauna eased my mind. After spending weeks and weeks preparing for a fall show, I was disappointed to see that my name was not on the KUCI fall schedule. But I know it will not only be me without a show. Due to the excessive amount of applicants, it was obvious that many of us will not be returning for the fall quarter. So, as bummed as I am, I understand. I’m really sorry that I will not be back yet another quarter. But I will continue posting articles and reminding you guys about upcoming events such as ISA: LA, Lim Jae Beum’s LA concert, Clara C’s Shakin Off Silence Tour, Kina Grannis’s 2011 World In Front Of Me Tour, and Kollaboration : LA. You should definitely check out these events because they will absolutely be worth every penny!!

However, without a radio show this quarter, it gives me time to do something different. Maybe this is a sign…maybe it’s time for me to change lanes and stay productive. I mean, I shouldn’t just give up because I didn’t get a time slot, right? Instead of taking a step back, why not take two steps forward?

If anything changes, I’ll let y’all know! 🙂

Have an awesome day! And thank you for your support!

What to expect on my show this upcoming fall…

Hola everyone! First off, I just wanted to let you guys know how sorry I am for the lack of posts this past month. I’ve been extremely busy enjoying what’s left of my summer in Europe, where I didn’t have much access to the Internet…or a computer. And the only chance I got to check my emails was at an Apple Store in Paris and London! So I’m really sorry for not keeping you guys updated, but if there’s anything you want to know about Rome, Paris, or London, I’m your gal! Send me an email with your questions and I’ll try to answer them the best I can.

Anyways, I want to let my listeners know about the schedule for this upcoming fall. I’ve already submitted my application, but I’m not sure when I’ll be notified about the new show time. So once I know, you’ll know. But what I do know is that the new Fall schedule will start on September 26th at 12:00am. So be prepared for some new shows and new DJs here at KUCI. Also, I’ll wait until the start of the new quarter to start posting things. 🙂

For those of you who have been tuning in to Juiceberry, I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. My show would be nothing without you guys – seriously. It would just be me…talking to myself…How sad! 😦 But my show is anything but nothing because I have you guys ❤ Thank you so much!

Hopefully, I’ll be gaining more followers this coming Fall because I’ve added a new concept to my show. Originally, I focused more on East Asian music, news, events, etc. But I wanted to do more with my show. Keeping East Asian culture alive is important, but I also want to bring attention to the ever-growing Asian American community. So with that said, I plan to introduce or re-introduce you guys to Asian American artists, singers, YouTubers, dancers, actors, comedians, and all-around entertainers. Hopefully, you’ll like the new direction my show is taking. Feel free to let me know what you think by sending an email, leaving a comment, or tweeting a reply!

Thank you for your support!
